Calculate the right ring size
To ensure that a ring fits comfortably and can be worn without any problems in everyday life, it is important to calculate the correct ring size. A ring that is too tight pinches and can impair blood circulation, while a ring that is too wide can easily slip off the finger and be lost.
The inner diameter or finger circumference is used to determine the correct ring size. To convert the inner diameter into the ring size, the measured diameter is multiplied by the circle number Pi.
Alternatively, you can use a ring size table that assigns the inner diameter directly to the appropriate ring size.

Methods for finding the right ring size yourself
To determine the exact size, it is important to know the correct inner diameter or circumference of the finger. These sizes can be determined using various measuring methods. Many of these methods for determining the correct ring size can be easily carried out at home.
Measure ring size with an existing ring
The easiest way to determine the ring size is if you already have a ring that fits well. In this case, the inner diameter of the ring can be measured to determine the right ring size. Either a simple ruler or a caliper gauge is suitable for this.
The ruler is used to measure the distance from one inner side to the opposite inner side, while the caliper enables an even more precise measurement. This allows the ring size to be read off precisely without having to try the ring on your finger.
Determine ring size without ring
If you don't have a suitable ring to hand, you can also determine the ring size directly on your finger. You can use string, paper strips or a flexible measuring tape for this.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Loosely wrap the string or paper strip around the finger.
- Mark the point where the ends meet.
- Measure the length of the string or strip of paper with a ruler - this corresponds to the circumference of your finger.
- Transfer the measured circumference in millimetres to a ring size table to find the right ring size.
Alternatively, the ring size can also be determined using a ring size template by trying out the different sizes directly on the finger and simply reading off the right size.

Secretly measure ring size
Sometimes it is necessary to determine the ring size of another person without them realising it. This is the case, for example, if a marriage proposal is planned or a ring is intended as a gift.
Discrete methods
In such situations, it is possible for us to determine an approximate ring size using photos of the hand, for example. We can also send you our ring sizer free of charge on request or give it to you during your personal consultation. In this way, the ring size can even be determined from a distance without the person concerned finding out.
This way, the surprise remains intact if you’d like to have a special gift or an engagement ring made. Nevertheless, you can be sure that the ring will fit perfectly later on. Alternatively, many people choose to forge their engagement or wedding rings themselves in a couples’ course. Tips for precise measuring
To determine the exact size, it is best to measure the finger at the end of the day, as it is then slightly larger. It is also important to ensure normal room temperature, as cold can make the fingers smaller and warmth can slightly enlarge them.
The finger should not be wrapped too tightly so that the ring later fits comfortably over the joint. If there are differences between the two hands, it is advisable to take the dominant hand into account, as this is often slightly larger. In this way, the ring size can be determined precisely.

What are the most common ring sizes for women and men?
The most common ring sizes for women in Germany are usually between 48 and 56, while ring sizes between 57 and 62 are the most common for men. However, these values can vary depending on finger shape, hand size and wearing habits.
Can my ring size change?
Yes, the ring size can change over time. Factors such as weight fluctuations, water retention, hormonal changes or even temperature differences can affect finger size. It is therefore advisable to check the size again before buying a ring.
How is the ring size measured and specified?
In Germany, the ring size is usually given as the inner circumference of the ring in millimetres. An inner circumference of 54 millimetres, for example, corresponds to ring size 54.
How can I determine the ring size if I don't have a reference ring?
The ring size can also be determined without an existing ring. Common methods include measuring the circumference of the finger with a string, a strip of paper or a flexible ring measuring tape, as well as using a ring template, where the correct size can be read off directly.
Can I measure another person's ring size without them knowing?
