UNDERSTANDING RING SIZES WORLDWIDE

AN INTERNATIONAL COMPARISON

Ring sizing is essential for forging and making your own ring.

RING SIZE INFORMATION

Ring sizes are units of measurement that indicate the diameter or circumference of a ring and determine the size of the ring. They are important to ensure that the ring fits comfortably and is not too tight or too loose.

In Germany, the ring size is usually specified in the European standard measurement, which is based on the inner diameter of the ring.
For example, a ring size of 50 in Germany corresponds to an inner diameter of 50 millimetres. Size 50 is therefore used as a reference size.

Ring size table Germany compared to USA, England and France

Whilst in Germany ring sizes are given in mm, in the UK ring sizes are given in letters ranging from "A" to "Z", with "A" being the smallest size and "Z" the largest. Each letter represents a specific ring size corresponding to the inner diameter of the ring.

Unlike some other countries that traditionally use inch measurements, France uses the metric system for ring sizes.

The US and Canadian ring sizing system uses numbers to indicate the size of a ring. These numbers represent the inner diameter of the ring in fractions of an inch or metric. A higher number corresponds to a larger diameter of the ring.
